About
Small scale beekeeping and artisan style honey located in the heart of the Almaguin Highlands. Female owned and opperated. Our focus and passion is providing our local community with 100% naturally sourced honey and beeswax products, while promoting the importance of pollinators, their health and habitat creation/preservation.
Our locally-bred bees spend their spring, summer and fall foraging along the rolling forests, meadows and lakes surronding South River, ON. The health and well being of our bees are our #1 focus. As such, we take great care in ensuring they are well fed, housed and protected f rom common hive pests, natural predators and potentially harmful chemicals in their surronding environment.
Meet the Keeper
Megan is the she behind She Keeps Bees. Her journey with honey bees began in 2019 when she attended an Introduction to Beekeeping Course at a local apiary in the Ottawa Valley. From that point on she was hooked. In the summer of 2020, Megan purchased her first hive which quickly expanded to a full bee yard and a rapidly growing small business.
In 2022 Megan, her family and the bees relocated to South River, ON. During the summer months you can find Megan out in the beeyards spending quality time with "the girls", at local events in the community or spending quality time with her growing family out in nature.
